Try the link share method, might work for you. Maybe you want to create a backup locally or want to create a personal movie and need all the content locally stored for editing purposes. I'm sure in the Exif data or some other technogeek concept there is other data that can be used, modified, programmed, scripted, or whatever, but for the average joe like me I just want to download the photo so I can have it on my computer and see the date the photo was taken. Looking for a quick and easy way to download all your pictures and videos from Google Photos. But this is much better than the first scenario because I can sort by Content Created date in Finder. Share photos and albums with friends and family. I'm guessing in my case that is the delay in when the photo/video files get uploaded from my phone to Google Photos, and for some reason Google has decided to set the Date Created and Date Modified dates to the time of the upload, not the time of Content Creation. Your photos are automatically organized and searchable so you can easily find the photo you’re looking for. Instead, if I select the photos, then create a link to share, then follow the link and select download all, then the Content Created field is the original photo date, and the Date Created and Date Modified fields are the original photo date/time plus 4 hours. Less than ideal and really doesn't work for sorting photos. When downloading from Google Photos, the Date Created, Date Modified and Content Created fields (when viewed through Macbook Finder) all get set to the date/time of the download, not the original dates.
A little late to the thread, but, I use Google Photos on my phone and my wife's iPhone.
